Two to Tango

With the first notes of the sultry music,

She devoured the sparkling wine.

The clock struck the hour of midnight,

Ringing in her moments to shine.

.

Mysterious starlight twinkling in her eyes

Paired the alluring sway of her silken hips,

No glimmer of hope remained for him,

Captivated in the curl of her ruby lips.

.

The tapered arch of her back beckoned

A subtle invitation in the candlelight,

Her hair flowing like a stormy waterfall,

She lost herself into the explosive night.

.

His hands spanned her curving waist

Locking themselves into a fiery embrace,

Eyes and heartbeats glazed impassioned,

They whirled towards a timeless space.

  2. Nice energy in this, as it is with the dance – and there is def an intimacy to it that is intoxicating
and will send you off to distant places. Ha.

  3. Beautiful. You’ve captured the dance of love perfectly. Great word choices. My favorite line is “There was no glimmer of hope for him.” It seems the same might be said for her by the end. Peace, Linda

  4. I was as little confused by “no glimmer of hope” for him–was she going to refuse him her favors after the sensuality of the dance? Terrific sensuality, movement, & energy, regardless.

  5. Sensual and captivating. My husband and I do ballroom dancing and love the Argentinian Tango, different from a standard ballroom tango. But this was a lovely reminder of that complex dance.
