It takes a lot to fight gravity,
The first law of nature that we adapt to.
To keep our feet firmly grounded,
Lest we crash and fall.
But oh, the exhilaration of jumping in the air,
Of the innocent abandonment of playing on a swing,
A leap of faith, if nothing else.
Take the plunge to soar up,
Feel the gusts of wind bringing out wings hitherto invisible.
Don’t turn your back to increasingly piercing light of the sun,
Don’t shut your eyes and find yourself astray.
Try again if you crash hard,
And let the freedom of the flight be your guide.
Written for the weekly prompt at Sue‘s write photo challenge.
“Try again if you crash hard.”
Very well said dear. Truly inspirational.

I am always so fascinated by gravity. Especially given the fact that the earth is spinning and moving thorough it’s orbit at such alarmingly rate of speed.
As a kid I always loved the swing and climbing up on things and jumping down. π

It always takes a lot of courage to fight against the odds and we need hope, determination, support and ofcourse the faith that we can hold and stand back.
Very well written.

P.S. I just want to tell you I am reading your poems, but somehow my system doesn’t open domain websites anymore directly so that I can like and leave a response. Working on a fix!

Lovely read.
While so many forces try to keep us grounded, we must take the leap of faith to live life in its true essence.

I’m inspired by Prajakta’s poem. Even with a fear of heights, I have taken a leap of faith. I find myself flying gently, eyes open, not crashing hard. And when I tumble to the ground, I rest for a bit, then leap again to catch the wind.
