Meet my new favourite word – Komorebi!
It is when sunlight filters through the trees – the interplay between the light and the leaves.
Can I just say, how poetic is has made my moments especially in the ongoing monsoon season? I adore getting right under the tree and look up to trace imaginary threads stringing their way to the top. For some moments, I feel like the richest person in the world as I behold the sight of the streams of sunlight kissing the droplets to give them an appearance of a frozen shower of stars!
Any new, quirky, unusual word caught your eye lately? 🙂
Thank you, I also know a new word now.
And I can imagine the feeling that you described, it’s quite passionate, or Shall I say romantic!
At any rate sunlight in rain is auspicious. When I was small it’s said that it shows the fox has got married.
Enjoy and continue to share your masterful skills in raising passion
👌👍

Some things need words for us to appreciate their beauty further. Is Komorebi English? Sounds like something from Eastern India. 😀 I came across this word ‘Pulchritude’ in a class. It means beauty. 🙂

Komorebi is a Japanese term 🙂 Pulchritude sounds so delicate!! Thanks for sharing.

I hope that when you have finished staring up the trees in wonderment at their height; the detailing in their trunks; the leaf canopy overhead; the arrangement, and sometimes perfect symmetry of their branches; the light filtering through, and perhaps even the sounds of creatures whose world is high over your head. I hope that when you turn away and happen to notice the ground, that you are in awe at what it can produce if allowed to do so. I hope that before you leave that place, you will have hugged at least one tree! 🙂 Have a wonderful day. 🙂

We forget to thank the Earth for the wondrous fruits it bears for us. Thank you for reminding me of that.

I guess what they say is right, there is a word for everything we see or feel. We just have to search for it hard enough ! That is such a serene photo and that word has such a nice tinge! Loved it Prajakta ☺️

One of my favorite words, too. And you’ve captured the feeling of komorebi so well in this picture. We have a lot of opportunity to catch komorebi with the great forests of the American Midwest, and I keep that in mind while hiking and blog-posting.

Thanks a lot, Tom. I am just heading over to see your take – the city streets don’t give the same kind of opportunity to capture this moment.

Nice. Reminds me of a word, not in sound but more in meaning – chiaroscuro, which refers to interplay of light and shade.

Sunlight through the leaves? How gorgeous is it. I wonder why we consider it gorgeous though… Because the pretty leaves look prettier backlit? Because they shade us? Because they split the rays of sun? Who cares… It just looks so pretty and you want to just laze around…
